Goal:
1.
What resources are available on campus to teachers and students?
2.
What resources are not being used and why? What can be done to resolve
this?
3.
How can we as a campus increase usage of technology to create higher level lessons in the
classroom to engage interactive student learning?
4.
Does technology lead to higher level lessons and learning? How is it
being used? Can we change how it is being used?
5.
Using measurable data such as teacher walkthroughs, test scores,
surveys, STAAR results, can a campus use technology to increase/change higher
level learning lessons/teaching?

Your plan looks great. We also use a HEAT map to plan our lessons and we look at the technology TEKS to make the lessons more engaging. Something else that might help in your research. Just a thought. I am in a very technology rich district. Let me know if I can be of any help.
ReplyDeleteThanks- we had training on the Heat map of sorts, but no one is currently using it. I will see if I can incorporate that into it. We are trying to be a technology rich district- I may go to the district level supervisor for some guidance for this, since I have worked with her before.
ReplyDeleteVery well thought out and detailed! If I can help you out any, let me know. I have all sorts of Web 2.0 sites that my kids use or have evaluated. I hope the teachers are accepting and appreciative of your help. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteFor your #1 and #2 questions, are you referring to technology resources, or resources in general?
ReplyDeleteI was looking at resources as in equipment and programs. I thought it would give me a wider range in which to work. Thanks for the clarification. I will change it.
Deletegood point- technology resources. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI really like the "self reflection" step in your plan...though we learned that was a big part of good action research, I didn't think to put in in my plan and I didn't see it in others, either!
ReplyDeleteI believe that technology is a blessing and a burden. Many teachers are uncertainly with it and then do not use it to the best of its potential. This can make things look ineffective. You might look at surveying the teachers in your initial resource evaluation as to what they know and use daily. That could give you a base to begin trainings...or possibably be able to split your trainings in a beginner and advanced category if needed. Great looking plan!
ReplyDeleteI believe that the students do learn from technology. For questions #1 & #2 are you referring to technology? How will you measure whether technology will improve instruction.
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteWow! You've got a lot going on in your action research plan. It seems to me that you've rolled 5 plans into one. I would be overwhelmed in having so many goals to address. Would you be comfortable focusing on one or two of them so as to give yourself an opportunity to focus better on one area? (technology for example)
And on a side note, I agree with Kristy that many teachers are uncertain about technology, but the fact that our children were born into a technological world and don't know any different is exactly why teachers NEED to get with it. The biggest problem some teachers have is admitting they don't know everything. It's a pretty effective tool for a teacher to try something without being afraid to make mistakes. It sends a serious message to students that their teacher is a learner, too. And in my opinion, teaching kids how to be learners is more important than teaching them "core" subjects.
Great layout and very detailed. I like how your incorporating the technological piece to STAAR. I think that will get those teachers who aren't to sure about technology to buy-in if they see that this piece include a component to assist with STAAR. I think you have an amazing plan. If you need any ideas...let me know. I do alot of incoporating technolgy with my students. Have you tried Schoology to assist with your plan. If you need feedback on this, I could assist in that manner. I have been using this program (free) for two years to assist with high order thinking. By the way thanks for commenting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that one. I will be sure to look it over. I have had to start a notebook to keep up with all the tips I am getting. Thank you- and no problem. Appreciate all the help.
DeleteThanks Stevan and Rhonda. I agree with both of you and think that one answers the other. I needed measurablity to assess my plan. It started to become more like a project- which is what the Dana text warned about. Some of the activities are duties I already do anyway. I have had to pare it down and fine-tune it to more manageable. Thanks for the help!
